Judicial officials in Egypt say the state prosecutor has ordered the release of ousted President Hosni Mubarak's wife on bail, after she handed over her assets to the state.

Officials Tuesday did not give the amount of bail requested for her release. The 70-year-old former first lady handed over more than $3 million to authorities on Monday.

Authorities detained Suzanne Mubarak last week on charges of corruption, which she denies. Officials questioned Mubarak and ordered her detention for 15 days to investigate the charges she abused her husband's influence for unlawful personal gain.

Medics hospitalized the former first lady in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on Friday after she complained of chest pains.

Her husband is also hospitalized for heart problems and has been detained since last month.

Mubarak was ousted by a popular uprising in February after ruling Egypt for more 30 years. There are varying, but unverified, estimates of the Mubarak family wealth.
