A new edition of Michael Jackson's 1988 autobiography will be published on October 13. This edition of Moonwalk includes an introduction written by Motown Records founder Berry Gordy. The original version was a Number One best-seller on the New York Times list.
Obamas Host White House 'Fiesta Latina' Event |

On October 13, President Barack Obama and Mrs. Obama will hold their second "In Performance" event. "In Performance at the White House: Fiesta Latina" will feature appearances by Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, Jose Feliciano, Aventura, Sheila E., Los Lobos, Thalia and Tito El Bambino. Actors George Lopez and Jimmy Smits will host the show, which is scheduled to air as a PBS special on October 15. The first "In Performance" concert celebrated the music of Stevie Wonder.
Streisand Tops Billboard 200 |
This week, Barbra Streisand tops the Billboard 200 for the ninth time in her career. Her new album, Love Is the Answer, sold 180,000 copies its first week of release. She continues to hold the record for having the most Number One albums by a female artist in the history of the Billboard 200.
On October 17 and 18, Julien's Auctions will be taking bids on Barbra Streisand collectibles in Beverly Hills, California. 536 items will be up for auction, including clothing, jewelry, furniture, books and various music and film memorabilia. All proceeds from "The Collection of Barbra Streisand" will go to her foundation, which contributes to various causes.
Dylan to Release Holiday Album |
Bob Dylan's first holiday album will be released on October 13. All U.S. royalties from Christmas In the Heart will go to the meal assistance program Feeding America. Dylan released a statement that said, "It's a tragedy that more than 35 million people in this country alone - 12 million of those children - often go to bed hungry and wake up each morning unsure of where their next meal is coming from. I join the good people of Feeding America in the hope that our efforts can bring some food security to people in need during this holiday season."
Manilow Ends Vegas Hilton Engagement |
Barry Manilow has announced that he'll end his five-year Las Vegas Hilton engagement on December 30. Approximately 450,000 people have attended the "Manilow: Music & Passion" run since it opened in February 2005. Manilow recently re-signed with Arista Records. On October 13, his holiday album, In the Swing of Christmas, will be released. In January, Arista will issue Manilow's Greatest Love Songs of All Time.
New Hall & Oates Box CD Released |
On October 13, Legacy/RCA Records will release Daryl Hall & John Oates' four-CD box set, Do What You Want, Be What You Are: The Music of Daryl Hall and John Oates. In addition to all their hits, the 74-track collection includes 16 previously unreleased songs. Hall and Oates began performing together in 1972. Since then, the duo has sold more than 50 million records. In 1984, the Recording Industry Association of America named Hall & Oates the most successful pop duo of all time.

On October 11, Lenny Kravitz kicked off his "LLR 20 (09)" tour with a five-night engagement at New York's Irving Plaza. This past April, Virgin Records released a 20th anniversary remastered version of his breakthrough album, Let Love Rule.
American Idol season 7 third runner-up Jason Castro began a 14-city tour on October 12. He'll be performing at malls in the U.S. and Canada. Jason's debut album was originally scheduled to be out next month, but its release has now been pushed back to early 2010.
Spandau Ballet reunited early this year after a break of nearly two decades. On October 13, the 1980s British pop group will kick off a world tour at London's O2 Arena. Spandau Ballet is best known for its 1983 smash hit "True." Next month, the group's new album, Once More, will be released. The set features new versions of their classic hits, plus two new songs.
