South African President Jacob Zuma will miss his new government's first cabinet meeting following a hospital stay for apparent exhaustion.
The president's office said Zuma is resting at home this week and will not attend the three-day Cabinet Lekgotla, or conference, that began Tuesday in Pretoria.
The 72-year-old leader left a Pretoria hospital late Sunday, a day after he was admitted for what his office called a thorough check-up and rest after a demanding election campaign.
The ruling ANC party won last month's election with 62 percent of the vote, and Zuma recently was inaugurated for a second term as president.
In his absence, the cabinet meeting will be led by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The South African president still is scheduled to deliver his State of the Nation address on June 17.
