South African President Jacob Zuma has been discharged from a Pretoria hospital after a one-night stay for apparent exhaustion.
The president's office said Monday that Zuma "will continue to rest for a few days and will work mainly from home during the rest period." It said doctors are satisfied with his condition.
The 72-year-old leader entered the hospital on Saturday for what his office called a thorough checkup recommended by doctors.
The South African Press Association reports that leaders of the ruling ANC party had "ordered" the president to take a break and rest following a grueling election campaign.
The ANC won the May 7 election but with a reduced majority in parliament. Zuma was recently inaugurated for a second term as president.
The presidency denied reports that Zuma made "unscheduled visits" to hospitals in Durban earlier this year. It says those visits were part of the president's usual checkups.
