UTA — The Climb for Kosovo
In 2017, 34-year-old Uta Ibrahimi became the first person from Kosovo to attempt Mount Everest. Born and raised in eastern Kosovo, Uta experienced a childhood interrupted by a fierce ethnic war. Upon joining the climbing community, she battled entrenched gender stereotypes and misogyny to reach the highest peaks in Kosovo, and then Europe. But her ultimate goal was always "to be the first to put the Kosovo flag on top of the world" — on a journey to inspire a post-war generation to dream big.
