It has been a turbulent few weeks for the independent media in Russia, after authorities in Moscow accused Ivan Golunov - a prominent investigative journalist - of producing and trafficking drugs, using what observers say was dubious evidence. An outcry of a magnitude not seen before by media colleagues and the public led to a decision by the Ministry of the Interior to withdraw the charges and dismiss those in charge of the case.
