'Make America First Again' was the theme for day 3 of the Republican National Convention, as vice presidential nominee, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, took center stage after other key figures, including: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and former Trump rivals Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Florida Senator Marco Rubio addressed the convention.

On Wednesday afternoon, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump flew into Cleveland, holding a brief news conference with Mike Pence, who is to accept the party vice presidential nomination tonight.

Skirmishes among opposing protest groups broke out over the burning of a U.S. flag near the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on Wednesday. Police used pepper spray to push the protesters apart. Several people were detained, local media reported.

Protests have been held every day since the convention started on Monday, but Wednesday’s skirmishes were the most chaotic.
