Pakistan Heat Wave Kills 1,000, Sparks Anger
More than 1,000 people have died so far from extreme heat in southern Pakistan and the death toll is growing. The heatwave peaked Saturday, when the high temperature reached 45 degrees Celsius in Karachi, but temperatures remain dangerously high despite some relief in the past few days. Zlatica Hoke reports many Pakistanis blame the government for failing to prevent deaths.
