An Egyptian official said the wife of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak is in stable condition after suffering symptoms of a heart attack.

Suzanne Mubarak suffered chest pains Friday after Egyptian officials interrogated her and ordered that she be detained for 15 days.

Health Minister Ashraf Hatem said the 70-year-old former first lady is in police custody. It was not clear whether she would be transferred to a Cairo women's prison.

Hosni Mubarak has been accused of taking advantage of her husband's position for personal gain.

The Mubaraks and other members of the former regime have been the subject of legal efforts to bring them to trial since the ex-president was forced to resign in February after a popular uprising.

Some information for this report was provided by AP, AFP and Reuters.
