Gunmen Fire on Pakistani Flight; Killing 1

Gunmen have fired on a Pakistan International Airlines plane as it was landing at the Peshawar airport, killing one person and wounding two others.

The flight arriving from Saudi Arabia was carrying 178 passengers when the incident occurred late Tuesday.

A female passenger on board the plane died when the plane was hit by several bullets.

Authorities are searching the area around the airport for the gunmen.

The attack follows a major assault by Islamist militants on the airport in Karachi that killed nearly 40 people earlier this month.

The Pakistani military has launched several operations against militants in North Waziristan since then.
