LIVE BLOG: Clinton Becomes First Woman Nominated for President

The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

New Mexico, which throws in a shout-out to its state chilies and the television show "Breaking Bad," casts 27 votes for Clinton and 16 votes for Sanders.

The New York delegation is led by Governor Andrew Cuomo and is the current home of Hillary Clinton. Delegates cast 181 votes for Clinton and 108 votes for Sanders.

Spontaneous chanting of "Hillary!" breaks out as New York has the floor.

North Carolina casts 70 votes for Hillary Clinton.
