update

The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Bill Clinton begins with, "In the spring of 1971, I met a girl." And he gets a few cheers from the crowd.

Video ends and former President Bill Clinton is introduced.

The crowd is excited and cheering.
