Another mother says Hillary Clinton is not afraid to say the words "Black Lives Matter."
Police chief Cameron McLay of Pittsburgh spoke before the mothers. "Every day they (police) go to work not knowing what dangers they might face … particularly in our neighborhoods of color, there is a crisis of trust … public trust is eroding in far too many places."
"We can respect and support our police officers while also pushing for important reforms. We can and must do both," McLay said.
Sandra Bland's mother, Geneva Reed-Veal, wrangles the crowd to be quiet. She recites the names of the other women who died the same month her daughter died in police custody and a small group in the crowd chants with her.
