Kaine's comment that he worked on a Senate committee with Bernie Sanders brings chants of "Bernie!"

Kaine explains how he got into politics, winning a city council race more than 20 years ago.

"I've said ever since – if I'm good at anything, it's because I started at the local level, listening to people, learning about their lives and trying to get results," he says, getting a huge cheer from the delegates.
