Swiss police in the city of Geneva increased the terror alert level and were searching for suspects Thursday in connection with an investigation into the Paris attacks.
Geneva authorities said they were acting on information from Swiss federal officials that “suspicious individuals could be in Geneva or the Geneva region," the security department of the city said in a statement, but neither specified the number nor the identities of people sought.
Authorities also said that more police were deployed on city streets.
Security guards posted at Palais des Nations, the United Nations European headquarters, were carrying sub-machine guns, a departure from normal practice.
The November 13 Paris attacks, claimed by Islamic State, left 130 people dead and more than 350 injured.
One suspect linked to the attacks is still at large. Belgium made several arrests in the days shortly after the attacks.
