An explosion in eastern Afghanistan has killed three NATO coalition service members.
Afghan officials say the attack happened Tuesday in Wardak province, located southwest of the capital, Kabul.
A NATO statement confirmed the attack, but did not give the nationality of the soldiers.
Meanwhile, the top U.S. military officer says he wants the United States and Afghanistan to agree by October on a strategic agreement spelling out the future for American forces in the country.

General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Monday that having a deal in place would give as much "clarity and certainty" as possible to implement the plan ahead of the pullout of international forces by the end of next year.
General Dempsey also said he does not support a so-called "zero option" that would entirely remove U.S. troops from Afghanistan by the 2014 deadline.
His comments came during a visit to Afghanistan in which he met with President Hamid Karzai and Afghan military leaders.
