A woman’s campaign to save Mosul’s books

This project by VOA’s Extremism Watch Desk outlines the journey of a woman-led volunteer team who undertook an extraordinary six-week campaign to save Mosul University’s library during the brutal battle between the Iraqi forces and the Islamic State in 2017. VOA collected original testimonies, videos, photos and other firsthand material detailing the adventures of the young volunteers as they tried to rescue the library, book by book.
