A detained Taleban spokesman has told interrogators that fugitive Taleban leader Mullah Omar is hiding out in the western Pakistani city of Quetta.
Afghan authorities Wednesday released part of an interrogation of Mohammed Hanif, who said Mullah Omar is living in Quetta under the protection of Pakistan's main intelligence agency, the ISI.
The Associated Press quotes Pakistan's Interior Minister, Aftab Khan Sherpao, as calling the claim totally baseless. He told the news agency that Omar is not living in Pakistan.
The Taleban spokesman, Hanif, was arrested by Afghan security forces on Tuesday after entering the country from Pakistan.
In another development, NATO says Afghan forces and NATO-led troops detained a senior Taleban commander in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday.
NATO said the commander, who was not named, was arrested during a raid in southern Helmand province.
