Twenty-two imams and scholars who met in London Friday, issued a joint statement calling the terrorist bombings "utterly criminal, totally reprehensible, and absolutely un-Islamic." They called on all Muslims and non-Muslims to bring those responsible for the London attacks to justice.
Addressing the issue of suicide bombings, the imams said the Muslim holy book makes clear that there can be no excuse for killing an innocent person. The words of the Koran, the leaders said, are both a principle and a command for all Muslims.
