19 Die in Indonesia Bomb Blasts

update

Police in Indonesia say two bombs exploded Saturday at a crowded street market in Central Sulawesi province. Early reports say the blasts killed at least 19 people and wounded 20 others.

The explosions were in the town of Tentena, in an area of frequent clashes in the past between Muslims and Christians.

Tentena is 60 kilometers south of the coastal town of Poso, the focal point of much of the previous violence. Authorities say more than 1,000 people have died in the region over the past five years.

Although Indonesia's population is overwhelmingly Muslim, the Christian and Islamic communities are roughly equal in size in the area around Poso, 1,500 kilometers northeast of Jakarta.
