Pakistani security officials say their agents have detained a man on suspicion of having links with al-Qaida terrorist network.
The officials say the man - who identified himself only as Shehzad and claims to be a British national - was arrested late Sunday in a raid in a village north of Peshawar.
Pakistan, a key U.S. ally in war on terrorism, has killed or captured hundreds of al-Qaida militants since the attacks on the United States in 2001.
Earlier this month, its security forces arrested Abu Farraj al-Libbi - who is believed to be al-Qaida's number three leader. He is accused of masterminding two assassination attempts against President Pervez Musharraf in 2003, and a plot to kill Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, just weeks before he took office last year.
