As cities and businesses across the United States continue to reopen, new coronavirus infections hit record highs in a half dozen states. The figures point to a rise in cases for a second straight week as most states begin to reopen their economies. The World Health Organization says the Americas are now the world's pandemic hotspot, but cases continue to rise globally.
