Pompeo Visits Afghanistan in Bid to Resolve Political Impasse

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made a previously unannounced visit to Kabul Monday to meet with Afghanistan's rival leaders as he seeks to end the political crisis and salvage the peace process with the Afghan Taliban. A senior U.S. official says Pompeo made the trip despite coronavirus concerns because this is the "best chance at peace" after 40 years of war.
