US Senate Ends Government Collection of Phone Records
The U.S. Senate on Tuesday approved legislation, already passed by the House of Representatives, ending the government's massive collection of telephone call data intended to prevent terrorist attacks. President Barack Obama later signed the bill, which transfers the collecting of telephone call data from the U.S. government to telephone companies. Zlatica Hoke reports the Senate vote took place two days after the previous law on domestic surveillance expired.
