Wind Power Firms Push to Extend Tax Credit
The American Wind Energy Association says wind energy was the leading source of new electricity generation capacity in the United States last year. The increase in the number of wind turbines generating that electricity is due, in part, to the Federal Production Tax Credit, which subsidizes the cost of generating electricity using wind turbines. As VOA’s Kane Farabaugh reports, wind energy companies are pushing lawmakers to renew the program to help them remain competitive.
