Trump Eager to Act, But with What Kind of Mandate?
History shows that new presidents often have the most political leverage at the beginning of their presidency, especially if their party also controls Congress. In the case of President-elect Donald Trump, both supporters and critics are debating the extent to which Trump has a mandate to govern following his election, and whether he should do so with or without the support of opposition Democrats.
