안녕하세요 English with Yoo! 의 Jennifer Yoo입니다. English with Yoo!
I’ll give you a daily introduction to some meaningful and useful everyday English words and phrases! So let’s get started today!
오늘의 영어 표현은: stick it out
It was very rough라고 말씀드렸죠?
Yesterday, I introduced you to Jimmy, a Vietnam Veteran. He was wounded during battle while serving our country back in 1968. He said that it was a very rough time for him while he was there in Vietnam.
Well it was certainly very rough for his wife Sally too. But Sally told me that she stayed hopeful until the day he returned from the war.
She said that she simply stuck it out.
Let’s listen to the conversation I had with Sally. Listen carefully!
Stick it out
Jen: As a wife and as a mom as well, how was it like for you?
Sally: It was pretty challenging sometimes, but we stuck it out! We supported one another and that was neat about our relationship. We’re over sixty, all of us, and we’ve been married for a long time. It’s been really great.
오늘의 영어 표현은: stick it out이죠?
To stick it out means to continue to do something to its end, to hang on and get through the end.
Sally 샐리는‘It was pretty challenging sometimes, but we stuck it out!’ ‘…but we stuck it out!
Let’s listen to the conversation again.
