A Verizon street team came up to me during my lunch hour to promote a new and improved Verizon product that just came out.

점심시간 때 버라이존(Verizon) 길거리 홍보팀원이 제게 다가왔습니다. 미국에서 최근에 나온 버라이존(Verizon) 상품을 소개하더라고요. 버라이존(Verizon)은 손 전화기를 파는 미국 통신회사입지다.

오늘의 영어 표현인 ‘Check them out / Check (~) out’가 어떻게 쓰이는지 알아보기 전에, 버라이존(Verizon) 길거리 홍보팀원과 함께 대화한 것을 먼저 들려드릴게요.

Verizon Street Team: How are you guys doing? Can we bother you for one minute?
Jen: That’s fine.
Verizon Street Team: Well, we are just a street team, so we don’t do prices. All we do is promotions. So we talk about the tablets, we let you guys play with them , check them out, and see what they are capable of doing and make you guys fall in love with Verizon. That’s what we’re here to do.
Jen: Okay, so the street teams come out here and show people out on the street what’s new right?
Verizon Street Team: Exactly! That’s what we’re here to do.

버라이존(Verizon) 길거리 홍보팀원은 제게 ‘안녕하세요, 혹시 시간이 좀 있으세요?’ 라고 하면서 제게 다가왔습니다.

"저희는 버라이존(Verizon) 상품을 소개하는 일을 하는데요 태블렛에 대해 설명해드리고, 사람들에게 사용해보게 하고요, we let you guys play with them한번 살펴보고 check them out 고객들에게 (태블렛으로) 할 수 있는 기능들을 소개한 후, 모두가 버라이존을 이용하고 싶도록 홍보하는 일을 합니다." 라고 말했습니다.

오늘의 영어 표현은: Check them out / Check (~) out 이죠?

‘Check them out // ‘Check (~ something) out’은 ‘~에 대해 알아보다 / ~확인해보다/ ~시도해보다 / ~살펴보다’ 라는 뜻입니다.

Check them out means to take a look at something, to examine or try something.
미국 휴대폰 버라이존 팀원이 ‘we let you guys play with them , check them out, and see what they are capable of라고 했죠? Check them out
