오늘의 영어 표현은: We can either do this or do that.

After dinner I went to my favorite cupcake store in front of my house and the person working there told me that customers can either pay in cash or credit card.

미국에서는 CUPCAKE이 인기있는 디저트 그러니까 후식입니다. 저녁을 먹고나서 제 집 근처에 있는 Cupcake 가게에 갔더니, 거기서 일하는 사람이, 현금이나 신용카드로 컵케이크를 사먹을 수 있다고 하더라고요. Oh yea! There was one thing that I have to mention. 그 가게에 놀라운 것이 있었는데요…큰 계산대는 없고 애플회사의 성공적인 제품, 아이패드로 cupcake을 계산하더라구요. It was my first time seeing one.

오늘의 영어 표현 We can either do this or do that. We can either do this or do that이란 영어 표현은 어떻게쓰는지 알아보기 전에 제가 Cupcake가게에서 일하는 사람과 함께 대화한 것을 먼저 들어 볼까요? Listen carefully!

We can either do this or do that…

Jen: So you guys just use the iPad as the register?
Cupcake Cashier: Uh-huh, yup! It has all of our cupcakes here.
Jen: Oh, the pictures of all the cupcakes.
Cupcake Cashier: And we just punch them in as people order and it does all the prices and taxes as well.
Jen: So once you click on that, the prices come up and that’s the total?
Cupcake Cashier: That’s the total and we hit ‘charge’ and we can either swipe the card or pay in cash.
Jen: That is so amazing.
Cupcake Cashier: Yeah, it’s pretty neat!

오늘의 영어 표현은: We can either do this or do that…이죠?

Either 는 이것 아니면 저것 둘 중하나…라는 뜻이고요.
그래서 We can either do this or do that하면 '이것 아니면 저것 중 하나를 할 수 있다'
라는 뜻입니다.
Cupcake가게에서 일하는 사람이 “We can either swipe the card or pay in cash
신용카드나 현금으로 살 수 있습니다” 라고 했죠?
