It’s that time of the year. It’s back to school time!
곧 학생들이 학교로 돌아갈 때입니다.
Here in America, the new school year begins in late August or early September – From Elementary to College and graduate schools alike.
미국에서는 8월 말쯤 아니면 9월 초에, 새로운 학기가 시작됩니다. 초등학교 학생들부터 대학생 또는 대학원생들이 ‘back to school’ 학교로 다시 돌아갑니다.
학생들만 아니라, 부모님들도 준비할 게 많을 것 같은데요, 어떤 부모님들한테는 이 새로운 학기가 쉽지 않고 또는 번거로운 시간일 수도 있을 것 같습니다.
I guess it can be a hassle for some parents, as it was for George.

Jen: George, it seems like you have a big list of ‘Back to School’ items for your kids.
George: This is my first year doing it. My wife usually does it so yes…it is a hassle for me.
It’s something that I’m not very used to, but we’re going to try to do as best as we can.

Explanation of Conversation:
죠지는 아들 둘, 딸 한명을 가진 부모입니다. 세 아이들이 학교를 시작할 때가 곧 다가와서 ‘back to school’ 쇼핑을하고 있다는데요. 제가 보기에는 죠지가 아이들 대신 학용품을 사는 것을 좀 어색해하더라고요. 그래서 제가 죠지에게 “학용품 목록이 참 긴 것같네요” 라고 그랬더니 죠지는 “예, 이번이 처음입니다. 평상시에는 제 부인이 아이들과 함께 와서 학용품을 사는데요, 제가 혼자하니까 참 번거롭고 쉽지가 않네요. 그래도 최선을 다해야죠.” 라고 대답하더라고요.
