Kerry Visits Vietnam on Last Trip as US Secretary of State

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is on his last trip as the top U.S. diplomat.On Friday, he met with Vietnamese leaders in Hanoi.

"I'm delighted to be back in Vietnam where we are developing still a growing relationship," Kerry said while meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and acting Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.

When asked about Vietnam's sketchy human rights record, Kerry said, "There have been a lot of steps forward, but there are still some challenges."

He is scheduled to visit the Mekong Delta where he fought during the Vietnam War.

After Vietnam, Kerry travels to Paris for a conference on Middle East peace and to London to meet with British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.

On the final leg of his last trip as secretary of state, Kerry will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
