Officials from the Norodom Ranariddh Party are set to testify in a Phnom Penh court Tuesday on whether Funcinpec's secretary-general illegally prompted the ouster of its former president, Prince Ranariddh, from the government coalition party last year.
NRP spokesman Muth Chantha said party officials Chhim Siek Leng and You Hokry will testify Tuesday over conflicting stories from Prince Ranariddh and Funcinpec Secretary-General Nhek Bun Chhay.
Prince Ranariddh was kicked out of Funcinpec, fled the country, was found guilty in absentia for breach of trust and started his own party.
The NRP filed a complaint with the courts in April following an October 2006 congress that removed Prince Ranariddh from his Funcinpec presidential throne.
"We hope the court will proceed with the principles of justice and independence," Muth Chantha said.
The royals have suffered numerous political fissures since the split, with political defections increasing in recent weeks.
The ruling party says it will stick with Funcinpec, its longtime coalition partner, despite its flagging popularity.
Nhek Bun Chhay said the case had already been settled.
