اوکراین می گوید حملات روز شنبه توسط شبه نظامیان طرفدار روسیه در شرق اوکراین «تهاجم خارجی» توسط روسیه بود و نیروهای امنیتی در حال اجرای یک «برنامه عملیاتی پاسخگویی» هستند.
آرسن آواکوف، وزیر کشور اوکراین کمی پس از آن که روز شنبه نیروهای مسلح بیشتر ساختمان های دولتی در قسمت های روسی زبان شرق اوکراین را تصرف کردند در رسانه های اجتماعی اینترنتی از شلیک گلوله در شمال کراماتورسک خبر داد و گفت پلیس به درگیری ها واکنش نشان داده است. او همچنین گفت مهاجمان پرچم روسیه را حمل می کردند.
تصرف ساختمان ها و تجهیزات پلیس در دوتنسک منجر به استعفای رئیس پلیس شهر شد. همزمان شبه نظامیان کنترل بخش هایی از شهر شرقی اسکویانسک را نیز در اختیار گرفتند.
در مراکز پلیس دوتنسک پرچم روسیه در کنار پرچم جدایی طلبان منطقه ای به اهتزاز درآمده است.
حدود دویست تظاهرکننده حامی روسیه مسلح به چماق و چاقو روز شنبه ساختمان پلیس دونتسک را بدون مقاومت نیروهای اوکراینی تصرف کردند.
