Record numbers of migrants have arrived on Spain’s Canary Islands from West Africa this year. Spain plans to offer visas to hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants already in the country – as the government says it needs young workers to boost its economy. Henry Ridgwell reports.
The Los Angeles City Council approved a so-called sanctuary city ordinance on November 19 – this means local police and state authorities are not going to share information on people’s immigration status with federal immigration authorities unless it involves a serious crime.
