Veronica Balderas Iglesias
Veronica Balderas Iglesias is VOA’s U.S. Politics and Policy Reporter. She’s been nominated for several international journalism awards for her work as a multiplatform correspondent and video journalist. Her on-the ground reporting in three continents, includes the war in Libya and Iraq, political unrest in Lebanon, the Egyptian 2011 Revolution and the “Boxing Day” Tsunami in Thailand. Her investigative VOA “exposé” on illegal logging in Mexico’s UNESCO Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve was a finalist in the 2020 AIBs Awards. Before moving to Washington, “Vero” lived and worked in the Middle East for fourteen years. She studied Psychology and Communication Sciences at Universidad del Valle de Mexico, and speaks fluent English, Arabic, Spanish, some Italian and French.
