Nova Poerwadi
Nova Poerwadi is a TV producer and anchor at VOA’s Indonesian service, producing and presenting a variety of content, including on U.S. politics, economy, social issues, and technology. You’ll also see him on Indonesian affiliate stations reporting on breaking news, or developments in the U.S. of interest to Indonesians. Nova brings to his work over 20 years of broadcast experience in Indonesia, the U.K., and the U.S. His broadcasting career in Indonesia since 1992 with three successive stations – TVRI, SCTV and RCTI – coincided with the country’s tremendous transition from a military dictatorship to a vibrant democracy. Some of these changes he reported to an international audience via CNN’s World Report program, of which RCTI was a contributor. Nova joined VOA in 2005 during a time the Indonesian Service’s TV team was in its infancy. VOA Indonesian TV has now developed into one of the most well-known and trusted sources for U.S. news in Indonesia. Nova earned his bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Airlangga University in Surabaya and his master’s in TV journalism from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Nova is multilingual and fluent in English, Indonesian and Javanese, with a desire to add more languages.
