Hayde Adams
Hayde Adams is the anchor on Voice of America’s hour-long Pan-African news and talk show, “Straight Talk Africa.” Prior to that, she co-hosted on VOA’s news show, “Our Voices”, a roundtable talk show with a Pan-African cast of women journalists. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Hayde joined VOA as a reporter, producer and host in 2016, bringing more than 20 years of broadcast experience in South African and European media.
As the southern Africa correspondent for global news channel, France 24, her coverage included Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Angola, Jacob Zuma’s rise to power, Xenophobia and race relations in South Africa, as well as Hillary Clinton’s first visit to Africa as U.S. Secretary of State. As France 24’s foreign correspondent based on the U.S. West Coast, she covered the 2010 mid-term elections and California gubernatorial race, the 2012 Republican primaries, the Michael Jackson death trial, Whitney Houston’s death; and the 84th Academy Awards. Her work in international development, earned her the International Association of Business Communicators Award of Excellence for her video, “Pictures tell a Thousand Words”, which she produced and edited.
Hayde is a versatile video producer, anchor and reporter. She believes in the power of storytelling to foster inclusivity, a human connection, and achieve social justice. She holds a bachelor’s degree with double majors in Communication and Political Science from the University of South Africa.
