Frederic Nkundikije
Frederic Nkundikije is the managing editor of the Central Africa service of the Voice of America. In his 20 years in journalism, Nkundikije has interviewed high profile guests including but not limited to four heads of state, former U.S. Ambassador Thomas Pickering and the U.S. Special Envoy to the Great Lakes region, Thomas Perriello. Nkundikije participated in an executive analytical exchange on Burundi at the State Department, and he joined the White House Press corps for VOA to cover the first visit of President Barack Obama to Africa in 2009. A graduate of Georgetown University with a master’s degree in journalism, Nkundikije describes himself as a “Swiss Army Knife journalist” with skills ranging from broadcasting, reporting and news writing, digital essentials, video journalism, photojournalism, as well as data reporting. Nkundikije has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Burundi and was a Hubert Humphrey fellow at Penn State University. Prior to VOA, he worked at the University of Burundi as director of the cabinet to the university president, a position similar to vice president for administration in institutions of higher education in the U.S.
