Cristina Caicedo Smit

Cristina Caicedo Smit is an award-winning bilingual journalist, producer and TV anchor with more than 14 years’ experience covering international news. Her focus includes press freedom, Latin America, the U.S., women's issues, health and politics. Caicedo Smit has been recognized for her work on multimedia projects that combine illustration, artwork and long-form narratives, including with a 2023 Clarion Award. Currently she is the lead reporter for VOA’s Press Freedom desk, which analyzes the challenges confronting journalists globally.
