South African President Jacob Zuma says Zimbabwe has made some progress but no breakthrough on a draft constitution.
Zuma is expected to report on Zimbabwe during a meeting with regional leaders in the Mozambique capital, Maputo on Thursday.
President Zuma is the Zimbabwe mediator for the 15-nation Southern African Development Community (SADC).
On Wednesday, he held closed-door sessions in Harare with Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai. The Zimbabwe leaders share power in a fragile unity government.
After the meetings, President Zuma told reporters sticking points remain.
''I think there is progress that has been made but there are still some hitches, but there is progress that has been made by the parties,'' he said.
President Mugabe's ZANU-PF party wants to revise a proposal in the draft constitution that reduces the powers of the presidency and increases the powers of parliament.
After the meeting, both Mugabe and Prime Minister Tsvangirai downplayed their differences.
The regional bloc wants Zimbabwe to make reforms, hold a referendum on a draft constitution and then hold elections.
