Zimbabwe's Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is urging President Robert Mugabe to step down because of his health and advanced age.
There are reports that the 87-year-old Mugabe is being treated for prostate cancer, but he has not publicly confirmed his ailment.
Tsvangirai told reporters Wednesday that Mugabe's should consider stepping down for the sake of the country, his legacy and his children.
On Sunday, Mugabe returned from one of his several trips to Singapore where he underwent an undisclosed medical treatment. On his return, he declared himself fit.
Mugabe, who has ruled Zimbabwe for 31 years, entered into a power sharing agreement with Tsvangirai in 2008 after disputed elections were held. The coalition has had difficulty governing.
Mugabe has vowed to seek reelection next year.
