An air attack on a wedding party killed at least 27 people, mainly women and children, in southwest Yemen.

Yemeni security officials attributed the two airstrikes Monday on the village of Wahijah (near the Red Sea port of al-Mokha) to the Saudi-led coalition targeting the country's Houthi rebels.

Coalition spokesman Brigadier-General Ahmed al-Asseri called the allegation "totally false." He told Reuters there had been no coalition air operations in that area for three days.

The coalition has been mounting air attacks against the Houthi militia for six months, attempting to force the group from the capital, Sana'a, and restore internationally recognized President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to power.

On Sunday, residents and medics said Saudi-led helicopter airstrikes killed 25 civilians the northwestern Yemeni village of Bani Zela.
