The World Health Organization said Thursday a second person has tested positive for Ebola in Sierra Leone, where an outbreak of the virus had been declared over in November.
The first case was reported last week when Ebola was detected in the corpse of a young woman who became ill and died on January 12.
WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic said now the woman's aunt, who served as her primary caregiver during her illness, has tested positive.
He said the aunt was being monitored at a quarantine facility when she developed symptoms on Wednesday. She is now being treated.
The Ebola epidemic in West Africa also struck Liberia and Guinea, killing 11,000 people in the three countries and infecting more than 28,500.
The WHO declared Liberia to be Ebola-free last week and gave that designation to Guinea in December.
