Here’s what is known about the pipe bombs intercepted Tuesday and Wednesday by U.S. authorities:
• A package containing a pipe bomb and mailed to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was found late Tuesday; a similarly packaged bomb addressed to former President Barack Obama was found hours later.
• A package for Eric Holder, the attorney general during the Obama administration, was incorrectly addressed and found Wednesday near a building containing the Florida office of Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who formerly chaired the Democratic National Committee.
• The Time Warner Center in New York, where news network CNN has studios, was evacuated Wednesday morning after a package addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan was found in the mailroom there. Brennan is a commentator on rival cable news channel MSNBC.
• The device in New York was safely removed. Officials say a white powder was also found in the packaging.
• Suspicious packages also were sent to the New York governor’s office and a Democratic Party member of Congress.
• A similar suspicious device was found Monday in a mailbox outside the home of philanthropist George Soros, a key Democratic donor.
• FBI Director Christopher Wray said the investigation “is of the highest priority for the FBI.”
• President Donald Trump declared Wednesday that targeting current and former high-ranking U.S. government officials with explosive devices is “abhorrent” and “despicable” and has no place in the American political scene.
• Hours later, at a campaign-style rally in Wisconsin, Trump said those in the political arena must stop treating opponents as “morally defective” and comparing them to “historical villains.” He also said the news media “has a responsibility to set a civil tone” in its news coverage.
• The top two Democrats in Congress, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, accused Trump of fanning the flames of political unrest.
