Tuesday marks 25 years since the U.S. handed over control of the Panama Canal to Panama. Panamanians are celebrating by reaffirming that they will not give up control of the important maritime route nor accept external pressures that jeopardize their national independence. President-elect Donald Trump has suggested the U.S. should retake control of the waterway.
