Thousands of Venezuelans opposed to President Nicolas Maduro took to the streets in Caracas to vent frustration over crime, economic hardship and alleged government corruption.
Wednesday's protest was organized by students and members of the opposition. It appeared to be among the largest demonstrations faced by President Maduro since he was elected following the death of his mentor Hugo Chavez last year.
An opposition leader, Leopoldo Lopez, says the protest movement wants to force Mr. Maduro to step down through constitutional means.
Protests also took place in other cities including Merida in the Andes.
