Alibaba, Co-Founder Accused of Supporting China’s Repression of Uyghurs
Alibaba Group, a Chinese multinational technology company, and its Canadian co-founder, Joe Tsai, have been accused of supporting China’s “campaign of repression, mass arbitrary detention and high-tech surveillance" in Xinjiang.
According to ESPN, Tsai, who owns the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association and is chairman of BSE Global, which includes the Nets, donates hundreds of millions of dollars to combat racism and discrimination in the United States, while Alibaba, a company under his leadership, supports repression of the Uyghurs in China. Tsai has said he believes China's restrictions on personal freedoms have made it possible for millions of lives to be improved through economic development.
Survivor Testifies About Xinjiang Internment Camp
A Christian who was incarcerated for 10 months in China’s internment camps in Xinjiang arrived in the U.S. April 8 and testified about what he said were torture and forced injections in a camp in southern Xinjiang.
