Police and local media say protesters tore down another Confederate statue in the city of Richmond, Virginia late Tuesday.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch newspaper reports the statue, a monument to a Confederate artillery unit known as the Howitzer’s Monument, was located near the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University.

The newspaper reports protesters used a rope to pull it down from its pedestal. Demonstrators had marched most of the evening advocating for the removal of all Confederate statues, establishing a civilian review board over police actions and “defunding the police,” among other things,

In a video posted on the Times-Dispatch website, the paint-splattered statue can be seen face down on the ground.

The statue is the third Confederate statue, and the fourth monument, to be torn down by demonstrators in Virginia since international protests erupted last month calling for police reforms following the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody.

Statues of Confederate president Jefferson Davis and Confederate Gen. Williams Carter Wickham as well as a Christopher Columbus statue were toppled by demonstrators in recent weeks. The city had been the capital of the Confederacy during the U.S. Civil War from 1861 to 1865.
