Kamala Harris wows the crown in Chicago

Vice President Kamala Harris officially accepts the Democratic nomination for President as the Democratic Convention in Chicago wraps up. In a powerful speech, Harris made her case to the American people. The United States continues to lead the push for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war; negotiators were set to return to talks in Cairo by the end of the week, after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited the region. Iran says authorities have detained a policeman who shot and wounded a 31-year-old woman in her car last month in an incident that has provoked outrage from international rights activists. Indian President Narendra Modi is visiting Kyiv, and Turkey is playing a mediating role in the conflict between Ethiopia and Somalia. Protests continue at the Indonesian parliament and the government of Zimbabwe is working to contain an mpox outbreak.
