U.S. President Donald Trump will briefly interrupt his working vacation to make a one-day trip to Washington, according to White House officials.

Officials did not say why the president would be making the trip to the White House, where the Oval Office is undergoing routine renovations.

Officials said Friday that Trump would leave his New Jersey golf course on Sunday in the middle of his working vacation that has included meetings with his advisers on North Korea and other issues. They said he would first travel to his Manhattan home, where he has more scheduled meetings, and from there would travel to Washington on Monday.

Trump's August vacation to his golf estate in Bedminster, New Jersey, comes at a time when the White House is undergoing some long-planned renovations. Staffers from the West Wing, who stayed in Washington, have been working at the Old Executive Office Building across the street from the White House.

Politico, which first reported the story, said Trump's updated schedule showed him returning to New York on Monday, before heading to New Jersey on Wednesday to finish out the final days of his working vacation.

Trump was expected to stay in New Jersey for 17 days, his first extended time away from the White House since taking office in January.
